Burma

It's hard to believe I've been here only a month! Time moves so slowly here. Anyway, I need to renew my visa before the 8th, so Pastor Sayan and Siriporn will take me to Burma day after tomorrow. Burma is about two hours away from Home of Blessing, so we'll come home on the same day. I have a special curiosity to see Burma after studying it in school and hearing about it from my Karen friends. I gave a 30 minute presentation about the genocide being committed by Burmese army against various hill tribes including Karen in one of my classes last year. Then in my History class the next trimester, we studied the 2007 rebellion and Aung San Suu Kyi's democratic party. Once so far from my thoughts, Burma has taken over my life! I am very exited to see a country I've heard so much about.

  1. How cool that you get to see Burma! Your Karen friends will be glad that you went there.

We have Ashland reservations for Aug 23, 24, 25, the wk after Rachel's wedding. So I'll have you all to myself for several days, & will make you tell me all the details of your Thailand experience! They've constructed an outdoor amphitheater of sorts, to replace the Bowmen, for now. We have tickets for Love's Labor's Lost, Julius Caesar, Pirates of Penzance, and--if we feel like going to it--The African Company Presents Richard III. We also have an evening reservation for Oregon Cabaret.

Do let me know if you have a mailing address and if I should send a few books, by the fastest mail possible.

you might want to check and make sure it would get here before I leave. I don't need any books because I found a way to get free ebooks that are in the public domain :) If you do send me a letter or anything, I would be greatful for a few Earl Grey tea bags if you have any handy :D
